Embracing New Voices: GFAN’s International Steering Committee Grows Stronger
Following an open call for applications in 2023, GFAN is delighted to announce the addition of three exceptional individuals to its International Steering Committee (ISC). Each brings a wealth of experience and dedication to global health advocacy, further strengthening GFAN’s mission and vision.
Colin Puzo Smith: With a decade of advocacy experience at RESULTS and Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, TB, and Malaria, Colin brings invaluable expertise in global policy and communications. His commitment to amplifying the voices of directly affected communities and pushing for ambitious replenishment targets aligns seamlessly with GFAN’s goals.
Jake Atkinson: As a seasoned campaigner with STOPAIDS, Jake has demonstrated a profound dedication to advancing health justice. His leadership in coordinating advocacy efforts and amplifying the voices of young campaigners will be instrumental in strengthening GFAN’s impact, particularly in engaging youth voices and navigating complex global challenges.
Yolanda Paul: With fourteen years of experience in HIV, SRH, and human rights fields, Yolanda brings extensive knowledge of the local, regional, and international health architecture. Her roles within the Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS and the Developing Country NGO Delegation to the Global Fund underscore her commitment to mobilizing stakeholders and amplifying the voices of underrepresented regions.
The addition of Colin, Jake, and Yolanda to GFAN’s ISC reaffirms our commitment to inclusive and impactful advocacy. We look forward to their contributions in advancing our collective efforts towards fully funded responses to global health challenges.
We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to departing ISC members Joanne Carter and Mike Podmore for their invaluable time, support, and guidance. Their dedication and contributions have been instrumental in shaping GFAN and its advocacy efforts and look forward to their continuing engagement, collaboration, and contributions to GFAN.
