GFAN Brief – Guide for advocates on how Global Fund Grants can speed up and expand access to innovations
This brief looks at how the Global Fund can accelerate access to two breakthrough advances in HIV prevention and TB testing, and how country-level advocates can influence the next round of Global Fund grants for the period of 2027 –2029, called Grant Cycle 8 or GC8, across stages of the national Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) planning and implementation process.
The two exciting innovations are long-acting injectable lenacapavir, a transformative twice-yearly intervention for HIV prevention, and Pluslife’s near Point-of-Care (nPOC) TB test, a significant leap in the affordability, speed, and decentralization of TB case finding. The time for advocates to ensure that the roll out is successful is now – GC8 grants are already being planned, and implementation will start in 2027.
