Maher started his career as a nurse before moving into public policy, and over the past several years he has worked with community organizations and regional partners supporting Global Fund-supported HIV programmes across the Middle East and North Africa.
His work has taken him into programme management, grant oversight, research, and regional advocacy. What he enjoys most is working with people who see the same challenge from different angles and finding ways to bring those perspectives together. He believes one of the biggest lessons he has taken from his work is the value of bringing communities, policymakers, technical experts, and funders into the same conversation.
He is interested in how evidence and lived experience can inform one another, and how public policy can become more responsive to the people it's meant to serve. He enjoys asking questions, listening carefully, and helping turn ideas into action.
